In Review: Power in the Park
Over 300 people lift weights over their heads in perfect unison. They are following the five people on the stage, all dressed in red and black. Riverfront Park is full of people exercising together, having fun while working hard, starting their Saturday the perfect way: together.
At the south end of the park, 40 kids are chasing each other with pool noodles, playing tag, skipping, doing jumping jacks, screaming and laughing and learning what it means to be active and healthy. And while KidStrong happens and the kids have fun exercising, the adults next to them are doing the same thing.
Power in the Park proved something very simple, but very misunderstood. Movement is fun. Exercise is fun. A fit life is a life of laughter and pride and energy. Exercise can be difficult, but it should never be a chore. Power in the Park proved that when people decide to get together (to support each other and encourage each other and teach each other) exercise will always be a good time.
Power in the Park exemplified a major mission of Courthouse Fitness: to bring fun to exercise and joy to life.
After the event concluded and the music finally stopped echoing off downtown buildings, the whole crowd helped put away weights and risers. They then got together and took pictures–some with their families, some with their Club, some with their Zults War team. Power in the Park, at its core, was simply a chance for folks to get together and have fun exercising.
