Launch Week: Day Four or “Excitement Cookies”

I walked through the hall of the Keizer Courthouse and saw the fun rolling on.

I saw the smiles as folks left Group Kick and as folks walked into Group Power and Cardio30.

I knew the same thing was happening at each and every one of the Clubs. I wished I could be at all the Clubs at once and see people enjoying exercise. Maybe some of the people smiling would be enjoying exercise for the first time in their lives.

One woman named Mariann left a comment on our Facebook wall today. She said, “The staff are always cheerful, helpful, and encouraging. They are the best ever! They make exercise and their fitness center fun. I was never one to exercise, but now I look forward to seeing staff and friends. Great fun with Blackout week!”

The thing that pops out to me is “I was never one to exercise…” Mariann is like a lot of people who once thought that exercise had to be a chore, that it had to be miserable. Mariann is now having fun.

Scott Bushey, General Manager at Keizer, expressed the ideas of fun and Launch Week this way. “For this Launch, we went back to what we do best. And that is making exercise fun. The idea was so simple, but it became so much more. This Launch Week is about excitement cookies.”

“What are excitement cookies?” I asked.

“Launch Week and everything else has some basic ingredients. Those things can make a plain cookie. But then, for this Launch Week, we added a ton of excitement. And that makes for excitement cookies.”

So far this week, I have seen a ton of fun. I have seen a ton of sweat and smiles. I have seen excitement.

Excitement cookies.
