The Event
Imagine, train, do.
Those are the words you have been seeing around the Courthouse for the last year or so.
As we have shared this vision for our members, our staff, our community of fitness-seekers, we have found how fitting these words are. There is a rhythm to our fitness, our goals, our ambitions, our lives. We begin with a goal; we see that goal as a vision of our future selves. We then begin to train for that goal; we do some work, we make time for ourselves, we don’t stop when it gets uncomfortable. Finally, we accomplish what we set out to do; we live out that vision. And after it is done, we begin to imagine once again.
This Friday evening, the 27th, at 6:00PM, we are going to celebrate these three words: imagine, train, do. We are calling it The Event.
Simply, it is a chance to do something, to tell some stories, to celebrate the fact that each and everyone of us have made choices and done work and dreamt and trained. It is a not a race. It is not a competition. It is simply a chance to be outside and do something as a whole community.
The Event will begin and end at the West Salem Courthouse.
There will be a 3K Walk led by Fitness Coach Bella Moran. Michael Dallas Miller will take charge of the “Over the River and Through the Woods 5K.” Jess and John from Santiam Cycle will take folks out on a 10-mile bike ride (Don’t worry about having a fancy road bike or anything like that; if you want to ride, bring a bike and ride). Drew Baker and Matt Rudolph will be leading Spartan in the Park (If you have not tried Spartan before, this is a great chance for a fresh-air introduction). And once all these events are done, we will have The Big Prize Treasure Hunt. Sarah Kresse is going to hide over 50 easter eggs in Wallace Marine Park filled with all kinds of prizes.
The Event is free. Simply show up and be ready to do what you want. There won’t be food provided, but The Bite of Salem will be happening just across the river and we encourage folks to head over and enjoy good, clean food from around The Valley.
Continue to have a great Launch Week. See you Friday.
