Member Spotlight: Ardine Kapteyn
Ardine began her journey with Pilates seven years ago when she signed up for a studio consultation at the South club’s Pilates Studio.
Her original intent was to get some personalized instruction before starting the Pilates Mat class offered in one of the clubs. Instead she found that the flexibility, balance, and stability gained from personalized training on the reformer were transferable into her everyday life.
Pilates became much more important when Ardine had to have a total hip replacement two and a half years ago. Prior to surgery, Pilates, along with Group Ride, helped her stay active, even when her ability to walk became compromised. Three weeks after her surgery, she was back in the studio. Marie Roth, her Pilate’s trainer, incorporated her surgeon’s and physical therapist’s recommendations into her rehabilitation.
Ardine feels that the work is fun, challenging and systematic, and engages both mind and body. For Ardine, the feeling of internal well-being you experience after a Pilates workout is unique. Today you can find Ardine at the club participating in advanced Pilates training, Group Power, Group Centergy, and R30. After going through a period of limited mobility, she now looks at each new day as a gift and appreciates her ability to move well.
For those interested in trying a Pilates session, we are offering a small group session THIS Saturday, October 22 from 10-11am at our South Pilates Studio. $15 cost. Sign up today!
