This Friday will conclude a summer of amazing events put on in support of the Minto-Island Pedestrian Bridge. A large group of citizens and local businesses have worked together to provide funds and awareness to this important civic project.

We got a lot done and had a lot of fun.

We continued with the third summer of Courthouse 2 Venti’s (C2V) events. There was the Classic C2V, the Spartan C2V, and the Team C2V. c2v

In September, the Courthouse put on the first-ever Club Dance Rooftop Party. Over 400 of you got on the roof of the Chemeketa Parkade and had an amazing time dancing and laughing and enjoying exercise in the cool dusk, the music blaring and the lights illuminating your smiles.

The Courthouse Street Team brought the boom to On Your Feet Fridays all summer. And we conclude our boom-bringing this Friday at the final On Your Feet Friday of 2013. Here are some details on the event. If you haven’t been, come. And when you do, visit the Courthouse Street Team at the west end of the pedestrian bridge.

So, why build a bridge? Why work to raise money for this project? Because fitness is better together. Because connecting three of Salem’s finest parks will hopefully allow more families and friends to spend more time on walks and runs and bike rides or playing games. It may allow more to commute to work and home on bikes. Because we exercise to a) have fun, to b) become more fit and to c) to enjoy life more fully.
