Why Launch Week
Justen Maron is our Fitness Director and the go-to for everything Group Ex. He is very excited for Launch Week next week. He has a few things to say about Launch Week.
Launch Week has become a critical part of the Group Ex experience at the Courthouse. While it has evolved over the last 7 years, the core still remains. Every three months, we have new music, new workouts, and new energy to inject into all our classes.
The body is an amazing machine. It will adapt to whatever stresses you throw at it, eventually. Those 100 squats that made you really sore the first time you tried Group Power? Eventually they get easier. Those pushups you struggled with last fall? Your body grows stronger, and now they are manageable. By constantly adding new moves to the routine, we continue to see change and progress. Scientifically speaking, it’s called periodization. To most of us, it’s called doing things different to get more results.
If you’ve been a member here for a long time, you’ve seen Launch Week take different shapes over the years. There’s been some wild themes where we decorated the club like the old west, or dressed up as rock stars for a week. One of my favorites has always been the football themed launch (where someone won civil war tickets). We’ve evolved to be more Fitness-Centered, but the uniting theme is still important to us. There something powerful about exercising in groups, and we want to take this opportunity to remind you that you’re part of something bigger here. This quarter is a perfect example of that: the Blackout Theme.
Spring ’13 as we call it, we are borrowing the unifying nature of “blackout” from sports. How cool will be to get your sweat on, and try that new challenge together as one team? It’s more fun to involve the members than to just put a show on for the members. There will be prizes for both participants and Instructors, and it’s super easy to play…just pick your black shirt and bottoms to work out in next week. And when you experience the new 10-track format in Ride, you do it together as part of an all-black room? And remember those pushups we talked about earlier? There’s something new coming there too. Let’s just say as a team, “Challenge Accepted.”
Launch Week!
