Imagine, Train, Do: Katie Capon Revisited
See Katie’s story HERE.
As Launch Week begins today, I am reminded of the amazing stories that are taking place below the Big Fans, under the flashing lights, among the mats and steps and 7lb and 10lb and 15lb plates. I think about what Courthouse Instructors and Coaches know to be absolutely true: Group Ex works. It is working. Good things are happening in the lives of Courthouse members because those members are choosing to show up, work hard, imagine, train, and do.
One story I have enjoyed telling and re-watching is the one of my friend Katie Capon. Audra Blakenbaker told me about Katie and Katie was willing to tell me all about herself. She told me about breaking her back, being let go as an EMT, dealing with pain, rediscovering exercise through discovering Group Active. Audra told me about Katie’s goal of someday teaching Group Active and Katie told me how she reached that goal.
Sometimes Katie comes up to my office at Lancasterย to say hello and I am always reminded what is possible when people come together around the beautiful vision of fitness: the ability for everyone to do whatever they want, whenever they want.
Katie still deals with pain. But she handles it now with smiles and energy and an unmatched level of enthusiasm. She handles it in the company of others. She thrives as a Group Active Instructor and she tells me often how grateful she is to be able to tell her story and inspire others to have grand goals and ridiculous, wonderful ambitions.
Again, you can see her story HERE.
